Method: The subjects were 15 obese middle-aged women and they were randomly assigned into 2 groups (Control group, n=7; Exercise group, n=8). Anthropometry, blood pressure, and health-related physical fitness were measured before and after training. The exercise program was performed 2 times per week for 12 weeks.
Result: There were no significant differences in body composition between Control group and Exercise group(p>.05). However, muscle strength(knee extensor), flexibility were significantly improved in exercise group after 12 weeks(p<.05).
Conclusion: These findings suggest that this Qi-gong exercise is beneficial to reduce the loss of muscle strength and flexibility according to degenerative process in middle-aged women. Therefore this Qi-gong exercise could enhance health-relate physical fitness in obese middle-aged women.
